Obama promised a tax cut and that is what I got. It sure beats what I got from Bush!
Obama stepped into a pile of poo. left by the Republicans. Give him time to get it washed off.
He has the bottom almost cleaned, now he just needs to get the sides clean too,. Unforntunately the smell is harder to eradiate.
The Republican party reminds of me of ex smokers.
They are the biggest whiners about other smokers even they themselves were heavier smokers than those they complain about.
Yeah, talk about a pile of poo – and people from the clueless “little guy” right wingers to “our” noxious whiny Rep “Vickie” Gilliam to top level richies won’t ever admit that the “Old White Guys Party” is bankrupt in ideas – they did a fantastic job of ruining the economy and world relation (hey! did they find the weapons of mass destruction yet?) and now they are crying because a HUGE MAJORITY loves the Obama’s!
Maybe we should start calling the them “Old Crybaby Party”? Or the “Wreck It and Run” party! At least I am smart enough not to call them “my party”. And at least they are NOT HAVING A PARTY NOW – they are just casting in the dark.
And – how refreshing to have a leader TELL THE TRUTH for a change. If only the “leaders” in Molalla could follow that lead. Can you imagine how wierd that would be – if Molalla’s leaders led us somewhere, instead of just cowering about keeping secrets and “leaks”. Guess what Molalla “leaders” – this in not the Pentagon and you don’t work for the CIA. You are just funky people watching a town slide downhill and you do NOTHING TO STOP THE SLIDE.

Your correct, we had a Democrat Majority Congress for 2 years of which everytime they tried to pass a bill, was vetoed. Democrats aren’t perfect either, but at least the party is trying to do something to fix the problem. So, “independent” I sure hope you and yours are so successful that you will always be able to afford health care, food, and a place to sleep. A lot of Americans can’t even be sure of that! I celebrate every dollar spent on them, AMERICANS IN NEED – and NOT SPENT IN IRAQ (did you find those weapons of mass destruction yet, ye old Texas villiage IDIOT?).

Yeah, we wouldn’t have ADDED A TON MORE PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD HATING AMERICA WITHOUT BUSH’S LIES AND PHONY WAR – were are the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION? And, speaking of “hugs” – I hope Independent’s family NEVER HAS THEIR RIGHTS TO DUE PROCESS TAKEN AWAY – and that if there are more wars our enemies don’t decide to use our TORTURE ACTIONS as an excuse to TORTURE OUR SOLDIERS!
The world has watched what we do – and THE WORLD NOTICED WE DIDN’T FOLLOW MORAL LAWS UNDER BUSH. I look forward to the WAR CRIMINALS getting their day in court (that’s a lot better deal than the detainees got!) – if you tell our citizens that TORTURE IS OK, then you deserve to GO TO JAIL.

I am not looking for anything from anyone who EVER has a good word for the WAR CRIMINALS – I believe in learning from history. I hope you take a look at it sometime. Hugs aren’t going to solve the problems. I am angry that we trashed the world economy and that folks like you want to pretend it all just happened or to pretend that Obama is the cause. That is the ongoing Republican cop out – ruin the world, move on and blame the next guy. I feel very happy that the younger people aren’t falling for the baloney of the past. Good luck on “rebuilding” the Republican Party – without the young people it is doomed.

As a parent with a daughter that is signing with the Air Force, I AM VERY PROUD OF HER. I am scared for her but proud of her. Why? She is one of the millions that have/will fight for our country. She is one of the millions that let’s us continute to have free speech, be able to vote, she is one of the millions that is fighting for our continuted FREEDOM!
Do I agree with war? No. I don’t like. I ask that you think about all the people that lost their life when we were attacked. Innocent people on 9/11.

Hey Molalla citizen – I am bitter and angry!
I am bitter and angry that your child’s life will be risked in an unnecessary and illegal war.
I am angry that the illegal and unnecessary war is still going on!(a war which has NOTHING TO DO WITH 911 or saving our “freedom” – if you swallow that lie I have a bridge to sell you – or a comp plan!).
I am bitter and angry that young people have to go into service to get a job because de-regulation by the past Bush/Cheney War Criminal government ruined our economy.
I am bitter and angry that a false war economy has robbed us of our financial security and that tons of Americans come home with their spirits and bodies ruined.
Read Baker’s “Family of Secrets” and then you will be bitter and angry too. I hope you get some facts about why your child is heading off to “war”. I hope she will be well and will return eyes wide open about what kind of “freedom” she was really sent there to “protect”.
I think she is being sent to protect the “freedom” of multi-national speculators to rape and plunder the world’s resources – or else long ago we would have invaded the places that harbor the real terrorists who caused 911.
And by the way – where ARE those weapons of mass destruction that we invaded Iraq to save the world from? Base something on FACTS for a change and then people like me might not be so bitter and angry. Speaking of ranting and raving – if you do live in the city limits, get a gander of your city budget and your city “planner” and the hole he has dug for YOU, a taxpayer. Ask YOUR CITY of an account of where ALL THE PAST SDC’s went (but be prepared to hear that the record keeping is not so hot!). That “not so hot” is per a City Councilor who asked for the accounting months ago!
I would NEVER live in Molalla – that is part of my outrage, that a poorly planned, badly run, non-transparent berg would even consider drawing lines on maps to study the lands of happy people who care about conservation, farming and forestry MORE than they care about SPECULATION.
Molalla cares nothing about FACTS. Molalla is run for the sake of profit for a few. So, enjoy YOUR CITY. Luckily, planning in Oregon demands that people on BOTH SIDES of the borders participate so that uneducated and clueless speculators like the Plannin’ Di-rector and the Plannin’ Commission don’t ruin more land than they already have ruined.
Get on down to the urban renewal meetings, and to the plannin’ meetings and to the budget meetings and make the city YOU HAVE a gem. DEMAND a real parks plan with a real ongoing Parks Committee of DIVERSE citizens. You have an almost blank slate in the current economy to re-develop most of the “old” city and a wealth of crappy brownfields for future “growth” fun!
I have WASTED far too much time on pathetic Molalla. I have a lovely, carefully tended place that was a ruined mess when I got it almost 20 years ago. I love and honor this land and the creatures and plants that live here every day – that’s what makes me happy! – along with honest FACTS about the world and how it got to the hole we are in!
Try some FACTS for a change – they might be hard to swallow, but at least you will not be a slave to the pathetic reactionary jingoism that got America – and Molalla! – into the mess that is the present! FACTS might save us – blind slogans won’t!
Like I said, “I am proud of my daughter”. I don’t agree with the war and what it has done. Trust me I know, my spouse has been out of work for 6 months in the construction business. Health insurance has run out, unemployment is close to the end. I see where the economy is in the gutter. I do know why it is there, but like I said before, I do not agree with the war and what it has done. I am though very proud of my daughter who has made a choice to service her country and it’s PEOPLE. A choice that had been long thought out and not made over night.
I live in the city. We are involved in our childrens schools, sports, and community. If you would never live in Molalla, why do you contintue to bad mouth it and it’s employees?
I am glad that you love and honor this land, creatures, and plants. I grew up on a farm and miss everything it meant to me. If I could, it would be where I would be raising my kids. Sadly, land is out of my budget.
I see what is happening to the city. I do KNOW the facts. I am just tired of people being on their “soap box” and not doing anything about.

The problem is we don’t have an actively involved community. “They don’t care if it’s not in there backyard” mentality. They don’t care about the “Bigger Picture”, the quality of Molalla. Citizens outside the current city limits are some of whom will be the most affected by the cities decisions on the UGB and URA. They moved outside the city for a reason but also have a direct interest in what happens. So, If you “amolallacitizen” were me or Susan Hansen how do you think we could change what’s going on if you were in our position?
Dear “Molalla citizen” I guess spending hours, months and years learning about issues, finding out about the backward ways that Molalla is run, writing endless letters and blogs to inform people about the issues, attending meetings that are totally abusive to anyone who doesn’t agree with uneducated “employees” like the “plannin’ di-rector” and working like a dog for TWO years to protect the out of the city limits citizens who live EVERY DAY under the threat of a pipeline that was pre-planned behind their backs by LIES told by the “plannin’ di-rector” about “getting” 800-2,200 acres isn’t DOING SOMETHING in your BIASED AND REACTIONARY mind.
The day anyone can go into “YOUR” city hall, make a public information request and get an HONEST, PROMPT, AND FAIRLY PRICED REPLY, the day that the city gets a REAL CERTIFIED PLANNER, the day that the city starts looking INWARD to improve the land it already owns and begins to fix things in tiny, realistic steps, the day the MAYOR stops appointing INSIDER TRADING COMMITTEES that don’t allow diverse opinions, the day the city council focuses more on ideas, solutions, and honest information exchanges instead of acting like a herd of cowardly sheep living in North Korea under a rule of secrecy – hey, then I will be happy to stop DOING THINGS to provide FACTS because the FACTS will be easy to find!
Enjoy “your” city – I bought a pile of totally ugly and ruined acres for next to nothing almost 20 years ago. People around here laughed, it would “cost too much” to fix the trashed land so no one wanted it. Us dumb PDX folks fixed it stick by stick, shovelful by shovelful, tree by tree, by hand, by ourselves, using totally organic methods. Year by year it got nicer – till it got fantastic! I am proud of that!
That is the moral for Molalla – a tiny place with limited funds and a clueless “plannin’ commission/plannin’ di-rector” should long ago have started on TINY REALISTIC FIX-UPS instead of wasting my state/county tax dollars on INSANE PLANS FOR HIGH END GROWTH!
The plannin’ for HIGH END GROWTH is dead in the water of DEPRESSION – yet you still have a “plan” showing legally indefensible elements, an unfinished DRAFT parks plan, and a downtown plan that cost a fortune that the council doesn’t have the guts to pass, etc, etc, etc – the list of FAILURE TO EMBRACE REALITY IS ENDLESS!
Grow up – end the charade and accept the truth about the prospects, the demographics, and the economy. Stop acting like a bunch of children living in Neverland and maybe I can stop caring about what happens.

Have at it – I am going out to look at the lovely trees (if you plant them, they grow!), the cute creek that was trashed that is now a host to piles of critters, and all the cool native plants that don’t hog water.
Enjoy your barren streets ( you don’t have a tree policy), enjoy the water hogging hanging baskets ( you aren’t smart enough to plant natives to conserve water) enjoy the crumbling empty store fronts,enjoy the potholed streets, be carefully that you don’t get mowed down by a car because you don’t have sidewalks/bike paths – enjoy your SHORT SIGHTED, TERRIBLE “PLANNING”. And, most of all, ENJOY paying taxes to support all that REALLY TERRIBLE “PLANNIN” department – where, oh where, will you get the money to PAY for the losing dept – maybe put another surcharge on the water bill? Call it the ‘PLANNIN’ DI-RECTOR can’t manage a budget and he can’t plan” tax?
And I will keep pointing all of this garbage out till someone in the city STARTS CHANGING THE POLICIES AND THE NEPOTISM that have “gifted” you with all of the above! I am heading off to ride around my lovely property that I worked myself to the bone to create and that I will protect forever against the horrible “land use” demonstrated by “your city”.
Get a REAL CITY PLANNER – OR CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY FOR REAL PLANNING. “Local guy” doesn’t cut it – EDUCATION IN PLANNING DOES! Call me mean – it is the TRUTH! And the City Council is a bunch of cowards not to confront that FACT!
The state of “your” city reflects it – open your eyes – the place looks like a backwater big rig parking lot or some abandoned wayside. Look at Silverton, look at Estacada, look at Sandy – they all have PROFESSIONAL EDUCATED PLANNERS!
You don’t have a city – you have a dying village run by cowards. Look at the school report – declining. Look at the job opportunities – declining. Look at the regional prospects: when Oregon City admits in the Oregonian this week that growth there is dead in the water what do you HONESTLY believe is in store here in the future?
The only growing and viable segment of Oregon’s economy is agriculture! Get the picture? Not building houses, not manufacturing, not the FIRE sector – plain old agriculture. I guess I invested in the right thing when I bought all those cheap, “ruined” and “too expensive to fix” acres. It is called taking things one step at a time – and it works!

Working Families:
Making Work Pay: The President’s tax-cut – which covers more Americans than any in history – is putting more than $700 million back in the pockets of more than 1.4 million hard-working Oregon families.
$22,510,354 to support child care for working families.
Energy:
$33,501,500 in block grants to foster energy efficiency in building, transportation, and a wide range of other improvements.
$38,512,236 to support the weatherization of homes, including adding more insulation, sealing leaks and modernizing heating and air conditioning equipment.
$42,182,000 to the State Energy Program, available for rebates to consumers for energy saving improvements; development of renewable energy projects; promotion of Energy Star products; efficiency upgrades for state and local government buildings; and other innovative state efforts to help save families money on their energy bills.
Education:
$848,700,207 dollars potentially available to Oregon to lay the foundation for a generation of education reform and help save thousands of teaching jobs at risk due to state and local budget cuts.
Health Care:
$5,977,971 to expand services at 25 existing Community Health Centers, which will expand service to an additional 32,506 patients and create or save a projected 120 jobs.
$1,219,482 to provide meals to low-income seniors.
$155,826,609 made available in Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) to protect health care for the families hit hard by the economic crisis and some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
$2,490,016 in vaccines and grants to ensure more underserved Americans receive the vaccines they need.
Transportation:
$333,902,389 in highway funds to help build and repair roads and bridges.
$75,716,939 to repair and build public transportation infrastructure.
Law Enforcement:
More than $22 million for state and local law enforcement assistance available through the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The JAG Program supports a variety of efforts such as hiring and support for law enforcement officers; multijurisdictional drug and gang task forces; crime prevention and domestic violence programs; and courts, corrections, treatment, and justice information sharing initiatives.

The above list is good for all citizens, not just the selected few that the Republican Party caters to. Let’ s all celebrate spending money in America for Americans for a change! It only makes sense to ensure that every American is covered with health care. I don’t know anyone who could afford a major health problem without insurance – and it is harder and harder to afford even basic insurance.
I’ d rather some of my tax dollars went to covering policies than being thrown away on “police” actions around the world – I think help must come first for all Americans, before we try to “help” anywhere else! Remember the part about “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”? Its kind of hard to pursue “life and happiness” if you are sick and broke.
Why do people around the world enjoy better health and health coverage than we do? Isn’t it time for a change? Wouldn’t you want to know that you and your family could survive a health crisis? I sure would.
