Street Repair — Another bright idea

road repairStreet Closure

Starting at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, and lasting until 4 p.m., the Main Street- Molalla Ave. intersection will be closed to traffic to replace collapsed pavement. Detours will be in effect during the closure.

I must say closing the cities main streets on the busiest week of the year doesn’t sound like a really bright plan to me.   I’m sure the local businesses will suffer.  Keep up the good work city hall.

  1. Hey – this is Mo- lalla, man. We don’t have to do no heavy thinkin’ or no good plannin’ – whese just a livin’ minute by minute here!

Whese gots no master plans, whese just a lettin them chips fall where they may. Whese wants to looks like whese busy here whens them big city folks come – if these thems streets are a torn up maybe them big city folks will a think that Mo-lalla is a prosperin’!

Youse know – them jackhammers and them asphalt trucks makes it a look like our gosh darn e-lected officials care about this them city and like whese gots the bucks! Do youse a think that’ll work?

Do youse thinks that the Queen of Paranoia Councilor Jacober could a wear her crown and a di-rect that them traffic around that there busy corners so thems big city folks can a see thats whese a got these them important officials here? Thats a would be hot!

  2. Isn’t ODT in charge of this? Maybe, at this point we should just be glad it is getting repaired.

  3. Last I heard it was a disputed jurisdiction – in other words no agency wanted to own up to it. In any case it is poor planning to tear it up in a holiday week. One would hope that Molalla at least has input into it.

  4. I am glad it’s getting repaired. I don’t feel the local businesses should have to suffer or all the residences that will have to suffer with all the Buckaroo traffic. We have been waiting over 2 years to have the problem fixed and they pick the busiest week of the year?

  5. I agree, not an ideal week. Let’s hope it is just the one day. Sometimes, things can not be controled by other partys involved……in other words if it is ODT, Molalla may not have had a choice.

  6. Actually, it was very well thought out. We were the first project of the state. Nobody knew what was causing the street to continually and slowly sink in the main intersection. They had a plan and got it done in the time alotted and no harm was done. The intersection was repaired and everyone should be thankful that Mr. Atkins is thinking of the citizens and not his own agenda.

    Keep up the good work.

  7. This steet repair was COUNTY. The fiscal year began July 1 thus Molalla was one of first on list for repairs since the MONIES were not available until July 1. Glad to see job done.

  8. Really!! Did anyone get hurt or inconvienced by the road construction. PLEASE stop being whiny babies and get a life. I agree with Mary Jo Mackie, glad to see it done
